At Baker & Baker, we understand the impact our business has on the environment and for many years now have been committed to reducing that impact.
Waste, energy consumption, water, and emissions are continually monitored within the company and a number of modifications have been made to the premises and machinery to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
One of the ways in which we have managed to considerably reduce our waste and carbon emissions is by installing a new solid fuel heating system. We are now able to burn all of our wood off cuts and therefore reduce our energy consumption. Not only does the system provide heating for the whole site but it costs very little to run and is environmentally friendly.
The purchasing of material and supplies is carefully planned and bought in bulk if possible to avoid unnecessary transportation and packaging. Where ever possible we will use an eco friendly and or ethical alternative. All our solid timber is sourced locally and comes from well managed estates with tree planting programs in place. Each tree comes with an identity tag so we know exactly where it was grown.
To help replenish the planets natural resources and offset our carbon footprint, Baker & Baker began a tree planting campaign some years ago, initially planting oak saplings at the local Country Park. Since then we have pledged six hardwood trees every quarter through the treeappeal and will continue to do this.
