During the course of many years of bespoke kitchen designing, we have found that the vast majority of them include an island – and for good reason.
These freestanding pieces can be many things: additional counter space, the heart and hub of the kitchen, and an advantageous use of space, but we also feel that they are underestimated. For that reason, we thought it useful to showcase just how versatile these seemingly simply additions to the kitchen can be.
Islands with Bar Stools
First and probably the easiest way of incorporating a social aspect into your kitchen is the inclusion of an island with bar stools. Seamlessly transforming your counterspace into a breakfast bar or table top, bar stools can be a convenient way of making your island do more for you and is perfect for when you have friends round for coffee!

Multiple Islands
Often overlooked but an effective way of creating space and movement within the kitchen is to use two or more islands. The sole or partial use of these freestanding units not only allows for easy and unobstructed movement around the kitchen but it also frees up precious wall space for décor. Add a contemporary feel to your home by moving your countertops and appliances away from the wall and into the middle of the room.

All-Inclusive Multi Purpose Islands
Making the kitchen work for you could not be easier. With an all-inclusive island you can integrate such conveniences as a sink or Quooker tap, a hob and/or a dishwasher to create a multifaceted work area that makes cooking a joy and keeps everything close at hand.

Islands with Social Seating
Finally, we come to social seating. We are finding that more and more people are enquiry about this option of comfortable bench seating for a more intimate, social experience. This is a great option for people who want true versatility from their kitchen, opting for an island that can replace the formal dining room allowing for combined cooking and family time.
