FAQ’s | Honestly Answered

We thought it might be helpful to write a little journal post answering the questions we’re asked most often. From how we make to how long it all takes, these are the things people usually want to know at the very beginning.
Are you truly bespoke?
Yes, in every sense of the word! It’s a term that is used widely and often a little too loosely.
For us, it means custom from start to finish. Not a standard design with a few colour tweaks, or a collection of pre-made units adjusted to fit. Every cabinet, drawer and panel is designed and handmade entirely for you, and for you alone.
Do you make everything by hand?
Yes! All our cabinetry, doors, drawers and fitted furniture are handmade and hand-painted in our workshop by our passionate team of makers.
Working by hand allows us to achieve a level of quality and detail that machine-made kitchens simply can’t match. It also gives us complete freedom when it comes to design, materials and finishes.
Clients are always welcome to visit our Stambourne workshop and see their project coming to life.
Can you design kitchens in awkward or unusual spaces?
Absolutely.
Period properties, barn conversions, extensions with tricky angles, low ceilings or uneven walls — these are often where bespoke design really shines. Because everything is made to measure, we can work around beams, alcoves, sloping ceilings and other architectural quirks without compromise.
How long does a bespoke kitchen take to make?
The making of the cabinetry itself takes around six weeks, depending on the size and complexity of the project.
As a guide, allow around three months from initial design to completion. This includes detailed drawings, making in the workshop, hand-finishing, and careful installation.
We’ll provide a clear timeline at the start, so you always know what to expect.
Can you work with architects and interior designers?
Yes, very happily.
Some of our favourite projects have grown from sitting around a table with architects, interior designers and thoughtful clients. It’s a joy to work through ideas together, ensuring the cabinetry sits naturally within the wider scheme. We’re comfortable leading the joinery side or supporting the bigger picture,
whichever works best for the project.
How much does a bespoke kitchen cost?
Shop around and you’ll find that a bespoke kitchen in the UK can start from around £30,000 and rise well beyond £100,000 depending on size, materials, and detail.
Our own kitchens start at £35,000 for an average size kitchen, depending on the style and detail. For that, every cabinet is made to order in our workshops in Stambourne, Essex. We don’t buy in standard carcasses or component parts, and we don’t rely on CNC production lines. Each piece is built by furniture makers, using traditional methods and proper materials, then hand-finished and fitted. We only work on one project at a time so you are guaranteed our full attention. It’s British-made, from start to finish and worth every penny.
Can we choose any colour?
Yes, you absolutely can.
We can colour-match to virtually any paint shade, fabric, or reference sample. That is the beauty of bespoke, no limitations, you can have exactly what you want.
We also offer a colour consultation as part of the service to help you choose.
Do you fit cabinetry in other rooms?
Yes, we certainly do.
Many of our clients choose to carry the same level of craftsmanship through multiple spaces in their homes. We regularly install fitted cabinetry in hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms and living areas to create continuity and cohesion. You can see some of these projects on our Other Rooms page.
Do you offer a design service?
Yes we do and details of how this works can be found on our Design Service page on our website.
Do you fit your own kitchens?
Yes. Our experienced installation team ensures everything is fitted with precision and care. Because we make everything ourselves, we understand every detail of the cabinetry.
Can you arrange tradespeople, like builders, plumbers and electricians?
Yes, we can.
We’re happy to recommend trusted tradespeople and coordinate their work alongside our cabinetry, so everything comes together smoothly. Equally, if you already have your own contractors in place, we’ll work closely with them so the kitchen fits perfectly within the project timeline.
What is the next step towards commissioning our project?

We look forward to working with you!
