The story of Baker & Baker starts some 30 years ago.
From our humble beginnings on a Suffolk farm, we’ve grown a workshop dedicated to handmade kitchens and furniture, where heritage craft and care are at the heart of everything we do. We’ve chosen to stay small enough to personally guide every project, holding fast to what matters most: honest materials, careful hands, and the certainty that each piece is personally overseen before it leaves our doors.
Founder, Graham Baker, grew up in the small market town of Clare, Suffolk. With a family history of furniture making and a love of art and woodworking, Graham was led to study at the London College of Furniture. After finishing his course in 1991, Graham set up a modest workshop at his family home making one off pieces by hand, for commissions.
When James moved his family to Ireland in 2006, Marie, Graham’s wife, joined the team, continuing the family values and bringing the same dedication to quality and craftsmanship. As the team grew, so did our focus, expanding from bespoke furniture into fully fitted interiors that reflect the same commitment to traditional craft.
In 2008, we opened our showroom. A lovely space at The Barn in Clare and the perfect setting to show off our work. Over time, we’ve made it into a warm, welcoming place where clients can feel comfortable exploring options and imagining what’s possible.
Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to be part of many amazing projects, both large and small, near and far. Yet through it all, one principle remains unchanged: good things take time, no shortcuts, no compromises.
Our team remains as committed to beautifully made furniture as ever, and with Graham’s daughter Molly joining us, the family values and passion continue to shape everything we do.
